Cirencester branch covers towers in the valleys of the rivers which drain east off the
Cotswolds. North is the Windrush, forming the boundary with the
North Cotswold branch. South of this is the Coln and then the Churn, which passes through
Cirencester before meeting the infant Thames and forming the southern boundary with
Swindon branch. The branch also has boundaries with
Chippenham, Stroud and Cheltenham
branches. East is the Oxford Diocesan Guild.
The tower of St John the Baptist, Cirencester (pictured) dominates the town. Its chief claim to fame
is perhaps being the oldest twelve and the site of the first peal on twelve rung outside of London.
