Forest branch is the only branch wholly located to the west of the River Severn and the only
one which boasts a boundary with another country! Most of it comprises the ancient
woodlands of the Forest of Dean. The south western boundary is the River Wye and the
Llandaff and Monmouth Association whereas to the north and
west lies the Hereford Guild. The eastern boundary is almost
entirely formed by the River Severn although the branch meets up with the
Gloucester and Tewkesbury branches in the north.
Littledean (pictured) is situated almost exactly in the centre of the branch. When the G&B was
formed in 1878 Forest, split into North and South, was one of the founding branches. Littledean
presumably was in the south although it is not clear where the boundary lay.
